Dave Fields New EP, Rearview is His Most Impressive Lyrical Work

A record dedicated to deep thought and self reflection, Rearview is an ode to overthinking in the small hours of the night by Vancouver’s own Dave Fields. Also known as FONTANE, the Vancouver-based creative weaves memories like they’re journal entries, describing a time and place that has already passed. He reflects on these moments as if he’s paying a visit to an old friend – the sentiment is real, but he understands that what’s history is history, and you can’t undo what’s been done.

The sound carried throughout the 6-track EP is dense and textured, dark but resonant, and sets the backdrop for such late-night-driving and melancholic anthems as “401” and “On Me.” Influenced by his hometown (particularly the Toronto area) this Vancouver transplant spews a compelling, mid-twenty-something’s narrative. Joining him on the project are other West Coast up and comers, Brevner and Seth Kay, who help make this project dynamic and adhesive.
