At a time when audiences are craving increasingly personal and authentic interactions, legendary West Coast rapper Brevner releases his most impactful and emotionally provocative work yet. “MONO NO AWARE” Is a prelude to the forthcoming IKIGAI video / documentary series that strips away the typical confines of the music industry, giving us a raw look into the artist’s very own mind and heart.
With each instalment being self-produced, self-recorded, and self-edited in only 24 hours, Brevner captures the fundamental and simplistic truths of the creative process through tasteful minimalism. A process that originally started out as an experiment of self-exploration and pursuit of purpose, has since turned into a new way of life for the rapper. IKIGAI is a Japanese concept that translates to “a reason for being.” The word “IKIGAI” is usually used to indicate the source of value in one’s life or the things that make one’s life worthwhile.
“MONO NO AWARE” is the first video in a series of telling acts set to be released bi-weekly in 2019, and showcase Brevner’s refreshing approach to lyrical and visual storytelling. Inspired by Paul Simon, Thom Yorke and Kanye West, Brevner remains the West Coast’s most prolific and historically unwavering voice.
